New CBS All Access series to film locally
A new mystery/thriller streaming series will film in Pittsburgh this year.
CBS All Access, home to “Star Trek: Discovery” and “The Good Fight,” confirmed it will produce “$1” locally.
The series, yet to be cast, is set in a small rust belt town in post-recession America where a $1 bill changing hands connects a group of characters involved in murder. Class and cultural divides will be explored as the show follows the path of the $1 bill.
Jason Mosberg, Alexandre Dauman and Matt DeRoss (“Quarry”) will executive produce the series with Craig Zobel (“The Leftovers”) set as director/executive producer.
A CBS All Access publicist would not confirm a March start date for production.
“We expect this series’ first season to be filming over the next several months, hiring hundreds of our local film crew and adding much-needed revenue to the commonwealth,” said Pittsburgh Film Office director Dawn Keezer. “Hopefully, this will be another long-term piece of film business for the region and yet another success of the commonwealth’s Film Tax Credit program.”
Following the cancellation of ABC’s “Downward Dog” and WGN America’s “Outsiders,” “$1” will join Netflix’s “Mindhunter,” which returns to Pittsburgh this spring to film its second season.

David Fincher’s ‘Mindhunter’ Renewed For Season 2 By Netflix
The renewal for Mindhunter, toplined by Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany, had been fully expected, with preparations for a second season already underway ahead of the series’ debut last month.
Mindhunter, created by Joe Penhall, launched October 13 to strong reviews. It is executive produced by Fincher — who also has House of Cards on Netflix — Joshua Donen, Theron and Cean Chaffin.
Co-starring opposite Groff and McCallany are Anna Torv, Hannah Gross and newcomer Cameron Britton, who portrays serial killer Ed Kemper.
Of 18 new scripted series to premiere on Netflix in 2017, 13 have been renewed, two canceled after one season and three pending, with most if not all of them looking good to come back.

Thirty years after they served together in Vietnam, a former Navy Corpsman Larry "Doc" Shepherd re-unites with his old buddies, former Marines Sal Nealon and Reverend Richard Mueller, to bury his son, a young Marine killed in the Iraq War.
In 2003, 30 years after they served together in the Vietnam War, former Navy Corps medic Larry “Doc” Shepherd (Steve Carell) re-unites with Former Marines Sal Nealon (Bryan Cranston) and Reverend Richard Mueller (Laurence Fishburne) on a different type of mission: to bury Doc’s son, a young Marine killed in the Iraq War. Doc decides to forgo burial at Arlington Cemetery and, with the help of his old buddies, takes the casket on a bittersweet trip up the East Coast to his home in suburban New Hampshire. Along the way, Doc, Sal and Mueller reminisce and come to terms with shared memories of the war that continues to shape their lives.
Inspiring an ABC comedy of the same name, "Downward Dog" follows the day-to-day life of Nan as told by her increasingly lonely and philosophical dog, Martin.
