NFMLA NewNarratives Grant

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA), supported by WarnerMedia 150, created NewNarratives to identify exciting new global storytellers with accessing NFMLA’s extensive pool of artistic talent, this collaboration will advance, fund and amplify unique new voices whose narratives, stories and characters transcend borders and dismantle convention.

The program will award an annual artist grant to support the early development of an episodic or feature film project.
The deadline for submissions is August 27th, 2021 at 11:59pm PT.

Are you a filmmaker? Non-profit organization From the Heart Productions is offering three different grants for filmmakers with unique projects that make a contribution to society. The Roy W. Dean Film Grant and Short Film Grant recipients will receive funding as well as thousands of dollars worth of donated film products and services. The Documentarian Emergency Relief fund, made possible by a donation from Carole Dorothy Joyce, provides assistance to documentarians affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Roy W. Dean Film Grant

The Roy W. Dean Film Grant is now open for submissions. Since 1992, the Roy W. Dean Film Grants have supported independent filmmakers by awarding funding to unique films that make a contribution to society.  From the Heart Productions, the non-profit sponsoring the grant, is proud to have helped talented filmmakers complete films that impacted people’s lives and to have seen many of those filmmakers go on to have great filmmaking careers.

The grant is open to documentaries, narrative features, short films and web series.  Films must be unique, make a contribution to society, and be budgeted at $500,000 or less.  Students are welcome to apply.

Winner of the Roy W. Dean Film Grant for Spring will receive $3,500 in cash and thousands more in donated film products and services including 40% deduction on color, editing, and sound & all production services from ProMedia NYC, 30% discount in equipment rental from AbelCine Tech, Inc. NYC, $1,600 value / sound mix session from Silver Sound, and more from many heartfelt donors.

Every Filmmaker Gets Help for Their Project by Just Applying

Since it’s inception, the Roy W. Dean Film Grant has offered something for applicants that is itself unique for a grant.  Every filmmaker that applies for the grant  has the opportunity to receive a 15-minute consultation on their submission.  Filmmakers can get advice on how to find funding, build up a database of donors or investors, market their film, and more.

Roy W. Dean Short Film Grant

From the Heart Productions is pleased to announce the inaugural Roy W. Dean Short Film Grant is now accepting applications.   The newest entry in their line up of Roy W. Dean Grants for independent filmmakers is specifically for fiction shorts, live action or animated, that are 15 minutes in length or less.  As with their other grants, the films need to be unique and make a contribution to society.

Winner of the Roy W. Dean Short Film Grant will receive $3,000 in cash.  From the Heart Productions is also expecting and seeking donors in the film industry to provide up to $15,000 in services and products for the recipient.  They hope to have this in place by March 1st.

Dean Short Film Grant in response to the explosion and popularity of short form content.  Many filmmakers use short films to hone their craft and as a proof of concept for later full length features. From the Heart Productions wants to support their work and encourage them to make films with stories told with passion that enlighten us about our lives and the world we live in.

Documentarian Emergency Relief Fund

Non-profit From the Heart Productions has established a Documentarian Emergency Relief Fund for documentary producers and directors facing “dire financial emergencies” during these difficult economic times brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.

From the Heart Productions, which supports filmmakers with unique projects that contribute to society, created the Documentarian Emergency Relief Fund to provide monetary assistance to documentary filmmakers, such as for meeting essential life expenses, so they can continue working on their projects.

Made possible by a donation from Carole Dororthy Joyce, the fund will provide up to $1,000 each month for 10 months.

Applications can be submitted starting Jan 2nd and then the 1st of each month following.  Applications close on the 14th of each month.  Recipients will be selected by the end of each month and checks mailed to them shortly after.
